Day 12 Keld to Baldersdale 14 miles in 8 hours
Tan Hill Inn

Glorious over foot and hideous underfoot is the only way to sum up day 12. We climbed out of the tiny village of Keld onto expansive moorland offering outstanding view of the Dales. We spent to morning with 'the girls', two lovely doctors from the Midlands who we have been sharing digs with along the way. Despite it being a little early for ale, even by dads standards, we approached the Tan Hill Inn which is the highest pub in Britain by 11am which needed to be marked with a quick pint. The sheep were particularly keen on dads back pack and one fancied a sip from his camelpak much to dads horror!
The next 5 hours of walking were really hard work, our feet continuously submerged under bogs, navigation was tricky as we did not want to go under more than ankle deep. The only saving grace was that the weather was kind, I could not begin to imagine that walk in rain and mist. The stunning views offered temporary respite from thoughts of wet feet, this feels like the most remote place we have been so far with absolutely no sign of civilisation as far as the eye can see.
We dropped down to the absolutely stunning Clove Lodge with a huge welcome from gorgeous dogs Charlie and Bell..and owners Caroline and Chris. We had the most incredible meal with 'the girls' and Duncan popped over from York too support the Pennine Pounders! As our bog tour of Britain continues tomorrow, we've seen the great news of a week of sunshine! Yes please!
We're hugely grateful for all of the support and the comments. It's been pretty tricky with the wifi and signal situation in the evenings, but I assure you we read all the messages and appreciate each one!
We're officially over half way..so there's a positive to bid you good night on!
