Day 1 Edale-Crowden:Kinder Surprise

17 miles completed in 8hrs.

The day started with the final mad scramble to make sure bags were suitably packed, feet were blister-proofed and were to arrive at Edale for 9am to meet Dave and Liz from Glossop Mountain Rescue. Despite various weather warnings earlier in the week (which are still due to come) we were offered a hikers meteorological delight..light breeze, bit of sunshine and good visibility. No complaints.

Dave and Liz were amazing company, these guys partook in the rescue which is the inspiration for this fundraising. They entertained us with tales of rescues and fascinating stories. Day 1 is said to be the most challenging, perhaps is was the familiar ground or the fantastic company but these 17 miles were tough but extremely enjoyable. We climbed Jacobs ladder, enjoyed the views over Kinder Plateau, across to Bleaklow and descended into Crowden 8 hours later.

The proprietor of our accommodation tonight drove out to meet us off the Pennine Way, such a friendly greeting followed up by a lovely cup of tea on arrival! We're off for some rocket fuel dinner to take us over the next stretch tomorrow! Thanks a million for your donations, support and kind words!
